Me with Hat Backwards B&W.JPG

Hello

My name is Luke Thomas. While I may not be introducing myself in formal attire, I am a very capable professional committed to honest and transparent dealings, both personally and professionally.

I have been fortunate to build business and personal relationships with diverse and interesting people locally and from around the world.

My background and professional journey have provided me with a valuable and unique skill set gained over nearly three decades as a professional.

My career has been defined by my drive for meaningful change. I have been fortunate to have purposeful work as part of my professional journey, thereby allowing me to provide impactful advocacy and leadership across diverse sectors.

Highlights include...

Individuals-- i have had numerous opportunities to use my skills as a trial attorney to secure the rights and freedoms of vulnerable individuals in  courtrooms and agencies  across the Midwest.

Community impact--I have been fortunate to serve as lead counsel on several multi-million dollar local and regional infrastructure projects, including a vital water treatment project that spanned nearly a decade through completion.  Providing safe drinking water to families who spent generations with industrial, farm, and biological pollutants in their water was especially rewarding.

As I delve further into my career, I seek to allocate my time and skills towards meaningful work.   Ideally, projects resulting in the improved health, dignity and lives of current and future generations would be significant motivating factors in deciding whether to provide assistance.

I always strive to learn, grow and improve my versatile skill set to make a positive impact on organizations and projects that align with my goals and values.

My optimism, ambition, and purpose-driven approach keep me open to new opportunities and fosters a desire to build lasting business relationships.

Having worked as a trial attorney, managing partner, government attorney, public housing attorney, small business owner, and volunteer, I have worked with people across the socio-economic and political spectrum.

In non-legal roles, I have served as a consultant, director, and gained valuable operational insight by working along side some of the world's brilliant minds at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

My Story

I grew up in Riverton, Illinois, a small town seven miles east of Springfield, where I attended public schools. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1999 with a degree in Economics and earned my law degree from SIU School of Law in 2002.

After law school, I joined a small Centennial law firm in West Central Illinois as an associate attorney, spending my last nine years there as managing partner before transitioning to an operations specialist role at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. This experience provided valuable insight into the operational structure and methods of a large, world-renowned organization, and was also personally rewarding.

My diverse experiences as an entrepreneur, small business owner, mentor, and volunteer provide me with unique understanding, empathy, and insight when advising or collaborating with others.

While my legal experience is extensive and spans many areas, I am personally passionate about individual and civil rights, veteran affairs, and protecting the rights of disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. I strongly support justice reform, particularly greater equality and accountability within our criminal justice system, and overall accessibility to the legal system.

I am an avid learner with a lifelong interest in technological advancements, including computer systems and artificial intelligence--I am excited about our collective future and the limitless potential brought by the brilliant minds in our country and around the world.  I also enjoy learning about the intricacies of our financial system, economic policies, commodities, and day trading.
